 Applications: FY2016/2017 Solid Waste Implementation Grants

The Houston-Galveston Area Council is requesting applications for FY2016/2017 Solid Waste Implementation Grants. The due date for applications is Thursday, October 22, 2015, at noon.

First time users need to sign up and create an account. Once an account has been created, a user will be able to save any work and come back to it before submitting the final applications. All information is protected by your password and is viewable only by you and H-GAC staff.

Applications will be received online only. Applications will be stored online in your account until the application period closes. When the application period closes, all applications (drafts and submitted) will be deleted. Be sure to print and/or save a copy of your applications for your records.

 Solid Waste Grants in the Region

Through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)/H-GAC grant program, our region now has an infrastructure for collecting and processing recyclable materials. The grant program provided $28,156,855 to local governments from 1993 through 2015. The grant program has funded the following types of grants: recycling (40%), local enforcement (19%), household hazardous waste (15%), education (13%), cleanup events (6%), studies (3%), citizens' collection stations (2%), local solid waste management plans (<1%), and other (1%).

 Solid Waste Grants from FY 1993 to Present

Solid Waste Implementation Grants change from year to year. Changes include eligible applicants, projects, and expenditures. For some of the grants the awarded amount may have changed during the grant cycle due to a contract change or extension.
